Interesting fact:
Vŭrbitsa is a village in Southern Bulgaria. It is located in Dimitrovgrad Municipality, Haskovo Region.
It is situated on the E80 road from Haskovo to Plovdiv, between the villages Gorski Izvor and Byala Reka (west-east direction) and between Bodrovo and Skobelevo (south-north direction). The village is about 25 km from Haskovo and Dimitrovgrad, and about 50 km from Plovdiv.
In 2015, the village celebrated 500 years since the earliest known record of Vŭrbitsa. According to legends, the first inhabitants were likely resettled from another Balkan region and settled by the Turks as guards (derventjis) to protect the difficult-to-pass and robbery-prone ford on the Kayaliyka River.
